Steel Cut Oatmeal
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 3 cups water
- 3/4 cup whole milk
Method:
In a large saucepot, melt the butter. Once the butter is almost melted, set the water to boil in the microwave, about 2 minutes. Add the oats to the saucepot, and toast, stirring frequently, for about 2 minutes. Add the boiling water (stand back, it will pop) to the saucepot. Reduce heat to a simmer.
Simmer, and don't touch, for 25 minutes.
Gently fold in the milk, and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
Plating:
Goes well with brown sugar and cinnamon.
